All students with affiliation to Aalborg University are registered as borrowers automatically. As such, you are free to use the library right away - including using online resources from home.
Below you may read about what to do when you want to use the different facilities and services.
Borrown and request material from the physical collection
Your AAUCard is your library card. You will receive your AAUCard once you are admitted to Aalborg University. Along with the card you will receive instructions regarding activation of the AAUCard. Once it is activated, you will be registered as borrower automatically.
Upon activation of the AAUCard a personal profile will be set up automatically. In order to access your personal profile - to view loans, make requests etc. - you must enter your AAUCard number and corresponding four digit PIN code.
Your four digit PIN code is also used for checking out and returning material on the library's self-service machines.
Access to the library's online resources
If you are connected to an authorised campus network (e.g. AAU 1x), you will have direct access to the library's online resources with a few exceptions only. As such you can access a vast number of databases as well as all the library's e-books via Primo.
Remote access to the library's online resources
If you are unable to connect to an authorised campus network, you can access the online resources via remote access. In order to pass through the university's Access Control, you must enter your student-email (@student.aau.dk) and corresponding password. If you are working from home or abroad, remote access is your solution.
In order to get to the library's online resources via remote access, you must enter through the library's homepage or links that are set up for remote access.
If you do not know your student e-mail address, you can look it up using either student number or AAUCard number.
Library assistance and courses
Our library staff is always ready to assist you, if you have questions or are in need of instruction. Check out the manned opening hours at our branches. New students will usually get an introduction to the library.
Also there are a number of services - e.g. instruction and courses - that you can use. Read more about what the library can offer under the heading Library Assistance to Students.
